Bites of the World Collection: Launch Announcement

The day is here. We’re so excited to announce the debut of our Bites of the World collection! 🥳

Our new set of postcard designs features colorfully illustrated expressions from ten different countries.

If you were to ask us what we loved the most about working on this project, it was, above all, the joy of journeying through different worlds. It’s been incredible to learn fascinating tidbits about a culture’s quirks, stories and traditions from sayings that feature its most beloved foods.

Here are a few of our favorite examples:

Inspiring Travels

In Turkey, one of the most famous expressions honoring small kindnesses is symbolized by the act of sharing a cup of coffee.

An artichoke is not only a fragrant delicacy (when steamed whole) in France, but also a metaphor for a hopeless romantic’s heart.

In Vietnam, eating fruit becomes a sweet reminder of gratitude for the love and actions of others around us.

And back in ancient China, there were seven daily necessities that one couldn’t do without: firewood, rice, oil, salt, sauce, vinegar, tea. (Hey, that still sounds about right.)

Stayin’ Alive

But what would life be without wry humor to weather and bear all kinds of everyday situations?

If you ever are trying to show your cutest angle for a photo or are being your best self on a date, in Germany, they call that showing your chocolate side.

Did something not turn out as planned? Well, that’s okay. Imperfections happen. In Italy, not all doughnuts come with a hole.

Procrastinating on something you really have been dreading, but now you just need to brace yourself and do it? Well, in Korea, they might say you’re crying and eating mustard.

That’s just a little peek of what we have! You can dive into the full collection here.

A Few Notes

Each postcard vibrantly captures a unique cultural expression, along with both the original language + English translation. The back features a short, fun explanation of the meaning.

We’re super proud of the fact that each postcard in our Bites of the World collection is made with 350 GSM premium paper, our default. Translation? It’s premium-quality and truthfully, thick enough to masquerade as a 4×6 print.

These designs make lovely gifts for a friend or fellow curious explorer who enjoys expanding their horizons. Or as one-of-a-kind cultural mementos to keep for yourself.

Explore away and share with us your thoughts. We’d love to hear which expression strikes your imagination.

Happy traveling!
